.....sometime during rugby season and it healed on its own. I'm
sure SBJ recalls the game when it happened and he knows that he's had
some issues with it. Oh No Mr. Bill got him into see Fetherston
(finally) as SBJ is already 2 weeks into football prep with twice daily
lifting / workouts. Dr. Michael Fetherston, by the way, is pretty
famous in this area - he's got all of the ratings and 5 stars or
whatever that they give general practitioners. He is our family doctor
simply because his father (John) was my family's family doctor when I
was growing up. ONMB, of course, is thrilled that our doctor is
region-renowned.
Moving on...I had to laugh when they told me
about the appointment. Poor Dr. F - he really needs a stool to stand on
when reviewing SBJ's range of motion. SBJ told me that Dr. F had him
doing all sorts of stretches, dance moves, etc. so he could find out
where the issues are. ONMB said it was comical for Dr. F attempting to
reach up to SBJ's shoulders. I can barely reach SBJ's shoulders so I'm
sure it was funny to watch. Apparently Dr. F also did an x-ray and sure
enough, broken and healed over.
When ONMB showed me the referral
slip, I just shook my head. This is the same frickin' thing that
happened to him back before SBJ was born. ONMB took a tumble off his
bike crossing some railroad tracks and years later we found out that
he'd broke his collar bone and it had healed on its own. But I
digress....
...and so today we will call this specialist to
ensure that SBJ gets the proper physical therapy and range of motion/use
back well before football practices start in August. Who would have
thought that my sweet baby would have a rugby injury? He's such a big
guy he usually hurts others. As a momma bear, I'm not liking my baby
being hurt and am thinking that rugby is more violent than football.
ARGH! But, knowing how SBJ feels about both of these sports, I'm sure a
broken anything won't keep him from playing.
Good thing he's
not into baseball as it could be career threatening. I'm not hoping for
much and certainly want SBJ to do whatever makes him happy in life,
but a 3-year lucrative NFL contract could keep this momma bear in a
lifetime of porridge.
