And so my annual holiday illness has arrived......

......albeit a bit late.  Normally I'm really sick over the Christmas and New Year's holidays.  This year I sailed through those weeks (blink and you miss them) without so much as a sniffle.  Now, I'm feeling like no amount of medicine, tea with honey or smack upside the head will help me feel better.

This past weekend started innocently enough.....the usual annual Valentine festivities scheduled as well as a couple well-deserved off days from work.  I made a pact with myself that I was not going to log in over the weekend.  My plans were eat, drink, make merry, sleep, read, watch TV and repeat.  Sounds simple enough, right?

Friday the 13th - great day.  Slept in, watched my soaps, read my books, Seafood Lover's dinner at the club downtown with Mr. Bill, Mommy and gal pal Donna.  One day down, goals accomplished.

Saturday the 14th - great day for me.  Slept in, watched TV, read my books, SBJ brought me Quizno's for lunch.  Second day down, goals accomplished.  Not a great day for Mr. Bill, unfortunately.  The cold is really making his jaw nerves flare up and he's was in quite a bit of pain.

Sunday the 15th - and things start to fall apart.  Mr. Bill was up and down all night in pain and consequently I did not get much sleep either.  We cancelled our Valentine Brunch plans at the other club and tried to have a low-key day.  Mr. Bill was miserable throughout (I'll have to do a separate entry regarding this condition he has - it warrants its own review)....and I was rather blah.  I did read and tried to watch some TV.  I was just a bit out of sorts and feeling run down; not feeling at all like I did any relaxing.  And then my coughing started.

Monday the 16th - not good.  Resting and reading and watching TV....check.  Feeling rested and well - uncheck.  I did not sleep well.  Coughing turned to coughing and sneezing and more than a few sniffles.  I was up and down all night alternatively hot then cold and throwing up.  I was going through Kleenex like I had a lifetime supply.  I did start taking cold meds.  I tried to sleep.  I tried to mainline as much water as I could to stay hydrated.

Tuesday the 17th - officially home sick from work all day.  I really can't remember the last time that has happened.  Usually I rally late morning and attempt to get something accomplished, but what I believe is the flu has officially kicked my butt.  I barely moved out of bed most of the day.  More medicine, hot tea and and some Advil PM did provide a better night of sleep - finally.  I just feel like what my Mommy calls "a slug."  Barely moving.....can hardly tell if I'm alive.....seriously lacking in energy.  I am not even up to my usual social media forays.  That's a true indicator of the level of sickness.

Today, the 18th - Logged into work by 8am and making every effort to catchup on all fronts.  Given the volume of email I'm currently sorting through, I think my nausea is returning but I'm trying to stay tuned......
